Marching Band Rehearsal Expectations
Rehearsals occur on all Mondays and Thursdays after school until 6pm unless otherwise stated. You must be at school for half of the day or on a school sanctioned trip in order to attend after school functions.
Students are required to be at all rehearsals. Please try to limit reasons to miss rehearsal. To that end, students must be present for 80% of rehearsals prior to a concert to perform on that concert.
Missing rehearsals will affect your grade. Each rehearsal will be have a total of 130 points possible, for every minute you are not at rehearsal you will lose that number of points for that grade. The only exceptions will be doctor verified illnesses, a death in the family, or pre-approved splitting of time with another FBHS activity. Notify Mr. Odom 24 hours in advance in writing that you will be missing part of a rehearsal for another activity it will impact your grade and the absence will be counted towards the 80% rehearsal minimum requirement to perform prior to a concert.
You may make up time missed at rehearsal during anchor hour or before school, within 5 school days of the absence. You can receive your full grade back, but will only receive half the time towards your 80% requirement for concerts. You must be able to verify the amount of time you spent practicing. You or your section may have been mandated to practice during anchor hour or before school due to lack of performance abilities, this cannot count towards make up time.
You must request any absence or missed time in writing via the absence request form. Or complete the form upon your return if there was an emergency. Any absence not documented will count against you’re grade and 80% rehearsal minimum requirement to perform in a concert.
You may not miss a concert. Doctor verified illness must be of a level that would keep you from being able to perform, a simple cold is not a reason to miss a concert.
